This page sets out information about the South London Concert Band (“SLCB”, “we” or “us”) and its website at www.southlondonconcertband.org.uk, together with the terms on which you may access and use the website and its contents (Part A). It also contains our privacy notice which outlines how your contact details and other personal data may be used by SLCB (and others on its behalf) (Part B). 

 

PART A. SLCB INFORMATION AND WEBSITE TERMS

 

1. What is SLCB?

 

SLCB is a UK unincorporated club set up to play music and perform at concerts. It is organised by a committee. The committee and other members are generally musicians in the band.

 

If you wish to join SLCB, you will be asked to pay a membership fee, which goes towards the running of the band, its rehearsals and its concerts (including music, rent, conductor and storage). 

 

2. Information provided on this website

 

This website aims to provide background information on SLCB, its activities and related topics of interest. While efforts are taken to ensure the details are up to date, you should check with us before relying on any information.

 

3. Contacting SLCB and leaving comments

 

This website may contain contact details for SLCB, its committee and other members, and an online form that you can use to contact us. There may also be an option of leaving comments on our website, for example on the SLCB news pages. 

 

If you contact SLCB using the online form or otherwise, or upload any comments or other content onto our website, we ask for your name and certain contact details. Your contact details will not be published by us but they will be recorded (along with the content of your communication) and may be used by us to contact you in response. This website (including the news pages) may contain information about clubs, activities or events run by other parties, comments by other parties and/or links to third party websites. SLCB has no control or responsibility over such other clubs, activities, events or websites, the views left by other parties or the use of any third party contact details.

PART B.  SLCB PRIVACY NOTICE

This notice explains how and why your personal information is used as a member of the South London Concert Band (the “Band”). The South London Concert Band exists for the rehearsal and performance of wind band music.

 

Personal information is information that identifies you as an individual and relates to you. This includes your contact details and details of your relationship with the Band.

 

The information held about you includes:

  • your contact details
  • a record of your attendance at Band events
  • a record of subscriptions or other financial transactions with the Band
  • information about your musical interests, e.g. what instrument(s) you play
  • any dietary requirements for catering purposes, e.g. the Christmas dinner
  • information about any disability or medical condition you may have for which we may make appropriate arrangements.

 

The information about you is used to:

  • inform you of Band events and in relation to your attendance at such events
  • to facilitate interaction between members of the Band
  • to send you information relevant to your activities with the Band
  • to comply with legal requirements.

 

You may be contacted by email, telephone, or text message but only where this is permitted by law. If you tell us that you do not want to be contacted by any of these methods, we will respect that.

 

We may take photographs or videos of you to use in our publicity or on our social media platforms and website. Recordings of your performances with the Band may be published as CDs or on social media platforms or websites.

 

Your information is generally available to the officers of the Band. Your information may be available to other members of the Band if:

  • your name appears in a generally available document
  • a member specifically requests to contact you and you have not asked us to restrict the availability of your contact information; only the information specifically requested and necessary would be provided.

 

We may share information with third parties if:

  • you are listed as a performer at an event or in a recording
  • event organisers require us to name attendees or supply car registration details for parking and security purposes
  • we are legally required to do so
  • there is an emergency (e.g. if we need to seek medical assistance on your behalf).

 

The legal grounds for using your information are:

  • Consent: we are using your contact information because you have given consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time. Any use of your information before you withdraw your consent remains valid.
  • Legitimate interest: we have a legitimate interest in using your name, attendance and transaction history in order to keep records of the Band’s musical, administrative and financial activities.
  • Vital interest: we have a vital interest in knowing any information which would be critical to your health and wellbeing, for example, if you were to have a life-threatening medical condition for which you might require immediate medical assistance.

 

The length of time we may keep your information is:

  • for membership details, the duration of your membership of the Band and for up to three years after your last attendance at a Band event
  • for minutes and financial records of the Band, indefinitely
  • for photographs, videos and recordings of the Band, indefinitely.

 

Your rights to your information are that:

  • if the information is incorrect you can ask us to correct it
  • you can ask what information we hold about you and be provided with a copy, in a computer-legible format if required
  • you can ask us to delete information that we hold about you in certain circumstances, for example, where you have withdrawn consent or where we no longer need that information.
